The Catcher in the Rye : chapters 1-6

1) I think being unique means having characteristics that are different than other people's. These traits may include a person's personality, opinions, values, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. I believe everyone is unique in some way. However, not everyone displays their individuality. Unique people are unafraid to reveal distinct disposition that may contrast that to their peers. Holden, for instance, is more perceptive about the mannerisms of people, but is also quirky, and has weaknesses including a tendency neglect responsibilities.

2) There are several ways to retain individuality, even as an adult. Adults can choose a career that reflects their interests and utilizes their abilities. They can still do some of the activities they enjoyed as children. Also, they can still express their opinions in conversations with friends. People will still keep their core personality, though they will change from childhood. I believe they will still be original people, even if they only remain individual through their thoughts and reactions.

3) There are many people I am close to, so I am just going to pick someone who is like Allie. I found that Allie is similar to one of my aunts. They are both wonderful people to be around and can warm one's heart. My aunt and Allie are always ready with a generous smile and laugh. Lastly, they have mild tempers and rarely get angry.

  1. You did a great job of putting the second bulletpoint into words; I agree with the effects of careers on individuality. Nice job :)

  2. Great descriptions. You put everything in just a way where we get what you mean. I love how you put #1. (But also 2.... and three.....)
    Well done!
